The front of this postcard has a photograph of the altar, complete with cross and candles, of St Edmund's Church in Southwold.
The message on the back of this postcard, written in black ink, reads:
"I will come round to the Church Room on Saturday about 3pm and shall have had lunch before I get to Hampstead. Hope it will be all right (sic) if I stay Sunday night with H. Houghton. Will bring some rations! J.E.F."
There are two postmarks on the this card that appear to read Jun 42. Combined with the King George VI stamp and the reference to rations, it appears that this postcard was sent during the Second World War. It is addressed to The Rev J.A.L. Hardcastle at Elsworthy Road, Hampstead.
