This postcard shows the 15th century rood screen in St Nectans Church in Devon. It has a long message on the back for a Rev Hardcastle in Sandcroft, Chester.
This Frith's series postcard shows a photo of the rood screen found in St Nectan's church in Devon.
The message in blue ink on the back of the postcard reads:
"This screen is most wonderfully preserved and painted. Mrs (?) W is with me here enjoying a delightful holiday - 16 miles from station - 3 village and church!! With kind wishes and hope you are better now."
The postcard is addressed to Reverend J.A. Hardcastle at St Francis Rectory, Sandycroft, Chester (although Sandycroft is actually in Wales).
There is no date on the postcard, however the stamp in the top right is a King George V stamp, and the image number on the card is 82877. Research suggests that this postcard dates from the late 1920s/early 1930s.
