Matilda of Boulogne

Matilda of Boulogne was the wife of King Stephen of England. In the civil war between Stephen and his cousin (also called Matilda) she helped by summoning troops from her homen duchy of Boulogne and dealt with exchanging prisoners after her husband was captured. They had several children together, but in the end Stephen agreed that his heir would be Empress Matilda's son who became King Henry II.
