  • Sent in August 1927, this vintage postcard depicts Leas Cliffe Hall in Folkestone, which had only opened a few weeks earlier.

This postcard, dating from August 1927, features a black and white photo of the side of Leas Cliffe Hall in Folkestone. Various figures can be seen on the balconies and street.

The hall was opened in July 1927 so this photo must have been taken when it was newly opened, or perhaps while the inside was still being completed.

On the back of the postcard is a message written in pencil which reads:
"Dear Eve, I hope you have had a nice time and are feeling better for your holiday. I couldn't send you a p.c. [postcard] before as I hadn't your address. Well we are very comfy and the weather hasn't been at all bad. I am going to see if I have time for a letter home today. From Meg. P.S. This is the new Hall, very posh."

The postcard is addressed to Mr and Mr J. Knight at 66 Duxbury Road, Uppingham Road, Leicester. There is a red one penny George V stamp and a postmark clearly dated 7th August 1927.
