Poor Claudius was the last person anyone would have thought of as Roman Emperor. He limped, he had a speech impediment, BUT he also read a lot and was pretty clever. He still did the occasional mad thing but he certainly wasn't a loopy as Caligula. Just a shame that he liked mushrooms...
