One of the most famous Greek heroes, Achilles was the son of the nymph Thetis and king Peleus. He was the main hero in Homer's Iliad and the best of the Greeks. After the death of his lover Patroclus, he killed the Trojan hero, Prince Hector, and was in turn killed by Hector's brother, Paris.
