Boys' Froissart

Written by Madalen Edgar, The Boys Froissart is a selection stories and events depicted in Froissart's medieval history of France and England, taken from the translation by Lord Berners. Edgar appears to have been aiming for a more accessible work for younger historians who would have found the original translation to be excessively wordy.

This antique book has blue cloth boards with the title and author in gilt embossed text on the front cover and the spine. The cover also has a black and white photograph of two knights charging on horseback, with an embossed pattern of shields and woven strands framing the photograph. There are some bump marks on the corners and the edges of the covers but no significant damage.

Inside the spine is in good condition, There is some cracking between the front cover and the first page, but the binding is tight and all pages are present. There is a lot of foxing on the text block and the first and last pages, but the central pages of the book are clean. The text has deckled edges.

There are multiple black ink images throughout the book, as well as two maps. These are all listed in a separate "illustrations" contents page and all are present and secure.

On the inside of the first end paper the name "Samuel Hood" is written in black ink but there is no date or commemorative message.

Overall this book is in very good condition for it's age, albeit a little dirty, and should last many more years with some TLC.
