Orestes was a Greek hero, the son of king Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. After his mother killed his father Orestes, with his sister Electra, got revenge by killing Clytemnestra’s lover. In one Greek play he was pursued by the Furies until he was acquitted of the murder by the first Athenian court, overseen by the goddess Athena. He was the feature of a Greek tragedy series called "The Oresteia".
