Medea is a well-known female figure in Greek mythology. She was a witch helped the hero Jason steal the golden fleece from her father. She married Jason and had several children with him. Euripides wrote a tragedy about her, named Medea, in which Jason left her for another woman. In revenge Medea murdered her children, poisoned the other woman and fled her husband.
