Hecuba was the wife of the Trojan king Priam and the mother of Hector. When the Greeks won the Trojan war Hecuba was one of the unfortunate women who was captured. There are several stories about her fate, in one she was turned into a dog by the gods, in another she blinded one of the Greek heroes and killed his children, and another simply has her kept as a slave. She also had her own play, "Hecuba" written by Euripides.
