King Malcolm III of Scotland was the son of King Duncan, who was killed in battle by Macbeth. Malcolm may have spent Macbeth's reign living in England for safety. Malcolm became king after he killed both Macbeth and his step-son Lulach. He married twice, first to Ingibiorg, and secondly to Margaret, who was canonised as Saint Margaret of Scotland. His daughter by Margaret was named Edith, but changed it to Matilda when she married King Henry I of England. Malcolm was killed at the Battle of Alnwick in 1093.
