Hera was the ancient Greek goddess of marriage. I'm not sure why she was the goddess of marriage when hers was so dreadful. She was the wife of Zeus, but many Greek myths feature Zeus sleeping with another woman and Hera taking her revenge. Not what you'd call an amicable relationship.
