Charlotte Brontë, along with her sisters, was one of England's best known female novelists. Her first published work, Jane Eyre, is considered one of the classics of English literature. Charlotte and her sisters all died young, Emily and Anne both died of tuberculosis within 5 months of each other, while Charlotte died aged 38 while pregnant with her first child.
