A 1930s edition of the poetry collection "She-Shanties" by A.P.Herbert.
A rather quaint little book, She-Shanties is a series of poems about women written by A.P. Herbert, most of which were originally published in Punch magazine.
Since this book was published in the 1930s you will probably find some of the poems aren’t entirely politically correct, but it might still serve as an interesting read for someone.
Title: She-Shanties Author: A.P. Herbert Publisher: Ernest Benn LTD: London Publication Year: 1930 Pages: 123 Size: 11.2 cm x 17.2 cm
This book has brown waxed cloth boards with gilt embossed pattern and lettering on the spine. The top and bottom of the spine, as well as the corners of the boards, a little bit bumped and frayed, but otherwise are in very good condition.
Inside there is some light foxing on the inside of the front board. Apart from this all the pages are clean and free from pencil or foxing marks, although there is a small vertical tear on the bottom of page 73. The spine is uncracked and the binding is secure, all pages appear to be present.
Overall this is a lovely book in very good condition, it should last many more years even if you take it down to read it (and laugh at it) frequently!
