A postcard from 1917, depicting a cartoon soldier and a rhyme on the front, and a message on the back.
This vintage postcard dates from 1917 and depicts a cartoon soldier and a little rhyme about signing up.
The back is addressed to "Mrs Cross" of The Manor at Repps, near Great Yarmouth. The message apologises for the lack of news, and promises an update "as soon as I have time". It is signed "Billy" and continued with "221576 Driver W. Tann", this is William Tann who was a driver with the Royal Engineers during the First World War (a copy of the medal card is available on the National Archives website).
